About this Event
Host Organization: Carleton University - Faculty of Public Affairs
Author Meets Readers invites Carleton students and the community to join an informal discussion on new books published by members of the Carleton University Faculty of Public Affairs.
About the Book
“Work Your Career: Get What You Want from Your Social Sciences or Humanities PhD” shows PhD students how to use the unique opportunities of doctoral programs to build successful career outcomes. The authors encourage students to consider both academic and non-academic career options from the outset, and to prepare for both concurrently. The book presents a systematic mentoring program full of practical advice for social sciences and humanities PhD students in Canada.
About the Authors
Jonathan Malloy is the Honourable Dick and Ruth Bell Chair in Canadian Parliamentary Democracy and Professor in the Department of Political Science at Carleton University. His areas of research include parliamentary committees, prime ministerial leadership, and PhD career development. This book was co-authored with Loleen Berdahl.
About the Panel
Malloy will be joined on stage by Janice Freamo (PhD 2017 from Carleton University, Senior Advisor, Innovation, Science and Economic Development, Government of Canada) and Anita Grace, a PhD candidate in Carleton’s Department of Law and Legal Studies.
