Mathias Albert

Mathias Albert is the 2014-15 DAAD Hannah Arendt Visiting Chair for German and European Studies at the Centre for European, Russian, & Eurasian Studies at the Munk School of Global Affairs, University of Toronto. He is professor of Political Science at Bielefeld University and one of the directors of the Institute for World Society Studies there. He is also honorary professor at the University of Aarhus. He has written, co-authored, or edited numerous books and about 130 articles and chapters. Among his books are Zur Politik der Weltgesellschaft (2002), New Systems Theories of International Relations (2010, ed. with Lars-Erik Cederman and Alexander Wendt), Bringing Sociology to International Relations: World Politics as Differentiation Theory (2013, ed. with Barry Buzan and Michael Zürn). Work in progress includes a book on A Theory of World Politics. In addition to his work in international relations, he is also active in youth research.
