There are some challenges in assessment that, it seems, just about every professor has to face again and again. Group projects, for instance, raise the perennial question of how to fairly evaluate the work of the group versus that of the individual student. Communicating expectations for high-stakes, end-of-term summative assessments in a way that students understand can also be difficult, with our shortcomings often translating into more students producing lower-quality work. Adding a peer-to-peer component to your assessment strategy, however, can help resolve some of these common grading quagmires.

In this session, Audrey Girouard and Morgan Rooney will discuss the peer evaluation and peer review strategies they use to tackle common assessment challenges before facilitating a larger conversation with the audience.
