About this Event
Host Organization: Carleton University Alumni Association in affiliation with the Royal Canadian College of Organists
We hope you will join us to celebrate the local, cultural, and lesser-known history of the Carleton Dominion-Chalmers Centre with a free evening of storytelling, music and community.
Through its acquisition of Dominion-Chalmers, Carleton is proud to continue the congregation’s rich history of promoting music and education through this beautiful venue and community hub in the heart of the city.
A hallmark of this new performing arts space is the 5,200 pipe Cassavant pipe organ – one of only a few in Canada. This event will also mark the establishment of the Friends of the Pipe Organ Fund as we welcome this beloved instrument back to the Carleton Dominion-Chalmers Centre after a recent restoration made possible through donor support. Through the ongoing generosity of donors, Carleton is committed to preserving this instrument and ensuring that new generations enjoy its sounds filling the sanctuary for years to come.
In affiliation with the Royal Canadian College of Organists, this free community event will be open to the public and include a pre-concert lecture, one-hour concert, and will conclude with an opportunity to tour Carleton Dominion-Chalmers Centre.
