About this Event
Host Organization: Carleton University Alumni Association, NPSIA, SPPA
Please join us for a special Carleton University alumni and student reception in Washington D.C. on Tuesday, April 30, 6:30-8:30 pm, at the National Press Club.
This will be an opportunity for alumni to connect with fellow grads in the Washington D.C. area, as well as meet a group of current students from the Norman Paterson School of International Affairs (NPSIA) and the School of Public Policy and Administration (SPPA). These students are participating in an annual academic trip to Washington DC, and meeting Carleton alumni who live and work in the Washington D.C. area would greatly add to their experience.
The evening will feature remarks by alumnus Greg Ip, BJ and BAHons Economics 1989, Chief Economics Commentator, The Wall Street Journal.
Greg writes about U.S. and global economic developments and policy in the weekly Capital Account column and on Real Time Economics, the Wall Street Journal’s economics blog. From 2008 to January, 2015, he was U.S. economics editor for The Economist, based in Washington, D.C. Greg has won or shared in several prizes for journalism. He is the author of “The Little Book of Economics: How the Economy Works in the Real World” (Wiley, 2010) and “Foolproof: Why Safety Can Be Dangerous and How Danger Makes Us Safe,” (Little, Brown, 2015).
The event will include a reception with complimentary light hors d'oeuvres, cash bar, and a brief formal speaking program.
