More Information: Please click here for additional details.

The Department of Sociology and Anthropology would like to invite you to celebrate the upcoming retirement of Wallace (Wally) Clement. Please join us for an afternoon of socializing and celebration of Wally’s career and contributions.

This invitation is open to all members of the Carleton University community.

Please consider contributing to a graduate scholarship to recognize Wally’s 38 years of contribution and commitment to Carleton University. See below for details and visit the following website to contribute:

Wally will be retiring as a Chancellor’s Professor after a very distinguished career, serving as a faculty member in Sociology and Anthropology at Carleton since 1980. Wally is well known and widely respected throughout our campus and has held several prominent leadership positions at Carleton, most recently serving as Interim Dean of FASS from 2016-18, and also serving variously as Chair of Sociology and Anthropology, Director for the Institute of Political Economy, and Dean of the Faculty of Graduate and Postdoctoral Affairs.

The Department of Sociology and Anthropology has launched a Graduate Scholarship to recognize Wally’s 38 years of contribution to the university. The Wallace Clement Graduate Scholarship was launched through Future Funder in the Department of University Advancement so the university will match funds submitted. Each year it will be split equally between graduate students in the Department of Sociology and Anthropology and the Institute of Political Economy. Once a target of $25,000 is reached, the university will match dollar-for-dollar including the initial $25,000. Our goal is to reach $50,000, so a minimum of $25,000 is required.

Donations can be made at: https://futurefunder.carleton.ca/giving-fund/wallace-clement-graduate-scholarship/

Cheques are also welcome and can be sent to the Department of University Advancement.

We hope to see many of you on June 25th!
