Sally Armstrong is an award-winning humanitarian, journalist and best-selling author. She has covered stories in conflict zones from Bosnia and Somalia to Rwanda and Afghanistan. Her eyewitness reports and advocacy efforts have earned her the Amnesty International Media Award three times over as well as the Order of Canada and numerous other awards. Armstrong shares her experiences reporting from the front lines and shares the reflections and lesson’s she has learned with her audience. Sally has also visited and written about the grandmothers’ movements in Africa and Canada.
This will be an interactive discussion with Sally and a special opportunity to learn and share about women’s empowerment and leadership, and issues such as violence against women, education for all, human rights, and the role of women in the quest for peace.

Sally’s latest book “Ascent of Women” is a heart-wrenching, inspiring and powerful account of all women’s struggle for equality.Octopus Books, who is partnering with the Grandmothers Advocacy Network (GRAN) on this event, will sell “Ascent of Women” and Sally will be available to sign your book purchases.
