Join Teaching and Learning Services on April 29 and discover how to engage students through experiential learning, ePortfolios and collaborative projects at our Teaching and Learning in Community event.

Carleton instructors, students, and alumni will share their teaching and learning experiences and showcase their inspiring projects. The event will also feature keynote addresses from Dr. Alan Davis, president and vice-chancellor of Kwantlen Polytechnic University, and Jesse Stewart, Carleton music professor and award-winning composer.

Throughout the day, there will be seven sessions that focus on experiential learning, collaborative learning and ePortfolios, including:
-Multimodal Expressions of Students’ Learning and Reflections in ePortfolios (Beth Hughes, Centre for Initiatives in Education)
-Two Sides of the Coin: Using ePortfolios To Learn and Teach Languages (Eva Kartchava, Peggy Hartwick and Julie Lepine, SLaLS)
-Team-Based Learning (Sue Bertram, Department of Biology)
-Flipping the Teacher (Alumni from BUSI 4111, Troy Anderson and Robert Smart, Sprott School of Business)
-Community Engaged Sociology: Lessons From Our First Time Teaching the Course (Aaron Doyle, Deborah Conner, Laura McKendy and Christina Muehlberger, Department of Sociology)
-Carleton in Community: Macdonald Gardens – A Neighbourhood in Lowertown East (Susan Ross, School of Canadian Studies)
-Art as Experiential Learning and Inquiry (Jennifer Gilbert, Centre for Initiatives in Education, and Fiona Wright, Carleton University Art Gallery)

The event will wrap up with a social in the Carleton University Art Gallery alongside its Ontario Scene exhibition.
