Join us for a FREE screening of Last Night at the Strip Club (2020), including an artist talk and Q&A with Director Nicole Bazuin and writer, performer, and sex worker advocate Andrea Werhun. The event will examine the impacts of COVID-19 on sex work and online camming.
The talk will be moderated by Cam Hunters (Drs. Julia Chan and Stéfy McKnight) from Carleton University.

This event and screening will be done remotely using Zoom.

Registration is FREE but limited. This event is open to the public but priority will be given to students, staff and faculty at Carleton University.

About the speakers:
Nicole is an award-winning film director and interdisciplinary artist. Nicole co-created and photographed the acclaimed book Modern Whore: A Memoir. and directed the short films Modern Whore (Official Selection, SXSW 2020) and Last Night at the Strip Club, commissioned by CBC Docs (Official Selection, Hot Docs 2021). She co-created and directed the comedy art show This Art Works! (CBC), and the climate change documentary series Climate Talks With Kids (Bell TV). Nicole’s media artworks have been exhibited in the Art Gallery of Ontario and commissioned by festivals such as Nuit Blanche and Luminato.

Andrea Werhun is a writer, performer, and sex worker advocate based in Toronto. She is the author & co-creator of Modern Whore: A Memoir, an acclaimed sex work art book made in collaboration with filmmaker Nicole Bazuin. The second edition of Modern Whore is set to be published by Strange Light/Penguin Random House Canada in Spring 2022. Andrea is also the subject of the award-winning short documentaries Modern Whore and Last Night at the Strip Club, both directed by Nicole Bazuin.

In addition to her creative pursuits, Andrea is a peer outreach worker with Maggie’s: Toronto Sex Workers Action Project.
