The Baroness was active in New York’s Dada scene in the 1910s and 1920s. Collage and assemblage were fundamental strategies of Dadaist artists, who combined found images and objects to challenge ideas of what art was and could be.

Explore this radical and liberating artform in a participatory workshop led by Ottawa-based artist FEZA.

We’ll convene on Zoom; register here by September 29 to be sent a kit with all the supplies.

This workshop is free and supplies are included. You are invited to use collect and use your own materials as well. We will create a space for experimentation, play, and taking a break from social media to make art with our hands! Using a series of prompts, participants will explore techniques in shapes, colour and texture in collage to activate new futures together.

Participants

FEZA is a visual-artist born in Kinshasa, DR Congo, and raised in Edmonton. Now based in Ottawa, her work includes photography, film and sound. Whether through art or community organizing, Feza’s work is a meditation on the daily experiences of Africans within the Canadian context, exploring experiences of migration, memory and Kinship. She draws inspiration from her Congolese heritage, incorporating archival material such as photographs, video and audio sources.
