In the creative and cultural sector, cinemas, concert venues, tours, theatres and museums are cancelling events and closing doors – stages are going dark. Venues and artists are losing important sources of revenue that hold the potential for shuttering important creative and cultural outlets, events and practices for years to come. Many artists have shifted to online performances for free, while venues globally are providing free access to archival performances. For artists and organizations in the creative and cultural sector, what big questions need to be addressed to tackle the challenges and opportunities for this sector?
Hosted by Sprott’s Rick Colbourne, participants of the roundtable will be joined by discussion partners:
- Julian Armour, performing musician, arts administrator, artistic director
- Joel Flynn, innovator, researcher, entrepreneur with a focus in digital media and disruptive technologies in creative industries
- Beth Ponte, arts manager and researcher
This roundtable builds on the conversation started through the Shifting Landscapes forum from Carleton's Sprott School of Business.
