About this Event

Host Organization: Science Student Success Centre

Please join us for the annual Faculty of Science Student Alumni Mixer.

Each fall, our faculty hosts this special event specifically for science students with a panel of alumni guests. This signature event will take place during Carleton’s fall homecoming as part of the throwback events. The formal program will begin with the Dean of Science opening remarks and will include panelists who will answer questions regarding their careers after graduating from Carleton. Each year we invite all science students, faculty, staff, retirees, alumni, and donors to join this insightful event.

This year’s featured speakers are:

• Dr. Jesse Howell - Consultant at the Design and Experimentation Center of Expertise at Innovation, Science, and Economic Development Canada (ISED)

• Shania Fernando – BSc in Neuroscience / 2017, Registered Respiratory Therapist, Department of Cardiopulmonary Services, The Ottawa Hospital in the Children's Hospital of Eastern Ontario

• Amy Ng - BSc in Neuroscience / 2014, Clinical Trials Manager, R&D Product Engineering at Siemens Healthineers

• Dr. Vivian Nguyen – BSc Environmental Science / 2008; PhD Biology/ 2017, Assistant Professor with the Institute of Environmental and Interdisciplinary Science

The schedule of the event is as follow:
5:30pm Registration and Refreshments
6:00 - 6:45pm Panel Discussion
6:45 - 7:00pm Q & A

Free parking for attendees will be available in parking garage in P18

Students will also have a chance to win one of five $100 awards towards their studies at Carleton University during the event. During the reception, we invite all alumni to mingle and mentor students in your related discipline, reminisce with retirees, friends and current faculty, and most importantly, have fun!
