The winter of 1989 brought the fall of the Iron Curtain, which led to the peaceful collapse of communist regimes in Central Europe. In commemorating these events, the roundtable participants will discuss a range of topics including the aftermath of the fall of the Iron Curtain; the movement of the V4 countries into the EU and NATO; and the past accomplishments as these relate to planning future goals.
Moderated by Professor Joan DeBardeleben, Institute of European, Eurasian and Russian Studies (EURUS), and Director, Centre for European Studies, EU Centre of Excellence, Carleton University; participants include H.E. Andrej Droba, Ambassador of the Slovak Republic to Canada; H.E. Marcin Bosacki, Ambassador of Poland to Canada; H.E. Bálint Ódor, Ambassador of Hungary to Canada; H.E. Robert Tripes – Chargé d´affaires a.i. of Czech Republic to Canada.
There will also be a display of graphic posters donated by the Embassy of the Slovak Republic for public viewing commemorating the historical events.
