The College of the Humanities and Mahatma Gandhi Peace Council of Ottawa invite all to attend a public lecture at Carleton University with internationally-renowned climate activist, environmentalist and author Bill McKibben.

Notes from the Climate Struggle: Global warming is the biggest thing humans have ever done; we need the movement against it to be even bigger

Synopsis: Bill McKibben addresses the monumental challenge posed by global warming and explains how human activities, notably the burning of fossil fuels, have led to an unprecedented rise in global temperatures. He will talk about the growing global environmental movement, which can find inspiration from various sources including the non-violent resistance championed by Mahatma Gandhi to illustrate how coordinated, peaceful global activism can drive significant change.

About the Speaker: Renowned author and activist Bill McKibben has for decades been at the forefront of environmental campaigns centred on the growing climate crisis. Schumann Distinguished Scholar at Middlebury College in Vermont, he is author of the seminal work The End of Nature and more than a dozen other books. His numerous honours include the Gandhi Peace Award in 2013. He has been named one of world’s most significant global thinkers and America’s most important environmentalist.
