This public lecture by Dr. Wolfgram, currently a EURUS Visiting Fellow, will address the topic of how states and societies will vary when they deal with the legacy of war and genocide. To understand these different responses, he will speak about the need to engage in both political and cultural analysis. This lecture, based on a recently completed book manuscript, will look at these dynamics in Germany, Japan, Spain, Yugoslavia and Turkey over the course of the twentieth-century.
