About this Event
Host Organization: Pickering Centre For Research in Human Development
This year's Pickering Public Lecture will include the presentation of the 2024 Pickering Award for Outstanding Contribution to Developmental Psychology in Canada to Dr. Kang Lee. Dr. Lee is a Professor at the University of Toronto and member of the Department of Applied Psychology and Human Development at the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education. Join Professor Lee for an in-depth exploration of the development of deception in children. This talk will examine the early emergence of lying, the cognitive and social factors that contribute to its development, and the various types of lies children tell. Discover the surprising challenges adults face in detecting children's lies and the most effective strategies for fostering honesty. A reception with light refreshments will follow at 4:00 PM.
