The Russian war on Ukraine has had significant implications for the Black Sea regional and European security, economic as well as geopolitical. NATO member Turkey is a special case, not least because of its close relations with both Ukraine and Russia and its delicate balancing act between the two. It still remains to be seen whether the Russian-Ukrainian war will become a blessing in disguise to help mend Ankara’s shattered ties with its transatlantic allies, or it will further strain Turkey’s uneasy relations with the West.
