Osteoarthritis is a painful degenerative disease that costs the Canadian healthcare system billions of dollars each year. It has been difficult to study because the affected tissues such as cartilage are deep inside our joints, covered by other tissues and are relatively inaccessible. This talk will describe methods we use to study the disease, especially in the early stages, to better understand the causes and that may lead to prevention or a cure. The methods include medical imaging (CT and MRI), computer simulation and laboratory testing.

Ingenious Talks is a special speaker series from the Faculty of Engineering and Design that engages the community in discussions of timely and innovative ideas in engineering, design and technology.

Alumni are encouraged to reconnect with each other and the research happening at Carleton. Coffee and snacks will be served.
