There is inherent value in the process of completing well-crafted assessments, but what happens after grading? What if the products of students’ assessments could have second lives as useful resources for other students or for the public? What additional skills do students develop when they create or improve public web content, and while developing problem sets or assignments for future students?

Two Carleton instructors will share their recent experiences with ‘non-disposable’ assignments. Join us for a discussion of open pedagogy, the benefits and challenges of non-disposable assessments, and their connections to experiential learning. By the end of the session, you will have concrete examples and resources to help you plan and implement a new kind of assignment in your course.
