About this Event
Host Organization: SLALS Italian program
Within the framework of the “16th Week of the Italian Language in the World”, the Italian writer Francesca Melandri will be at Carleton to present her novel EVA SLEEPS .
The book follows Eva’s search for her identity, while undertaking a fascinating journey through the history of the small region of South Tyrol, annexed to Italy after WW1, and its cultural and political turmoil.
Francesca Melandri was born in Rome, Italy in 1964. After a long and successful screenwriting career her literary debut was in 2010 with Eva Sleeps, a critically acclaimed bestseller translated in most European languages and now published in English by Europa editions. Her second novel Higher Than the Sea confirmed her standing among readers and literary critics. Both novels have been awarded several prizes in Italy and Europe. She is also a documentary film maker.
The talk will be in Italian and English. Light refreshments will follow.
