LACS is hosting its first event of the academic year themed Reflections on Indigenous Peoples of the Caribbean. Historian Shenella Charles will be in conversation with Andrés C. López as they discuss her project entitled Home Sides: Lokono Kinship & Belonging.

The Lokono people are the original people of northern South America and the Caribbean Islands and they live in Guyana, French Guiana, and Suriname. The talk will explore how the Lokono people navigate kinship, belonging and interconnectedness in a world of relations.

Opportunities to network and share light refreshments are provided before and after the talk.
