About this Event
Host Organization: The Office of the Provost and Vice-President (Academic) and the Faculty of Graduate and Postdoctoral Affairs
This Fall, the Office of the Provost and Vice-President (Academic) and the Faculty of Graduate and Postdoctoral Affairs (FGPA) are be hosting an inaugural event to honour top graduate student Medallists. The Medals, which recognize outstanding academic achievement, will be awarded at Fall Convocation on November 12.
“It is an exceptional achievement to win one of these Medals,” points out Peter Ricketts, Provost and Vice-President (Academic). “The event will celebrate the students’ efforts and give them an opportunity to showcase their research findings to the general community.”
You are invited to attend the Inaugural Carleton University Medal Lectures at 2 p.m. on Friday November 11 on the second floor of Richcraft Hall (formerly the River Building).
Each Medallist will speak about his/her research. The presentations will be followed by a reception from 3 to 4 p.m.
“As it can take years for PhD students to conduct their research and then write and defend their thesis, we expect that these talks will be scintillating and enlightened – especially since these are the best of the best graduate student researchers,” says Matthias Neufang, Dean of FGPA..
Everyone is welcome. No need to register.
