About this Event
Host Organization: Faculty of Science
Health remains one of our society’s most pressing challenges. There are important questions around the nature and causes of disease, new approaches to diagnosis and treatment, access to care issues, and shortages of skilled practitioners in critical areas.
Carleton University has important contributions to make in these discussions. While it does not have a medical school, Carleton has extensive academic and research expertise in the area of health. Moreover, we are training future leaders in the health sector. In September 2014, Carleton launched a new Bachelor in Health Sciences degree—a unique academic program that is designed from an ‘outcomes’ perspective, grounded in the knowledge and skills graduates require for a broad range of health careers. The program has immense potential for health care advocates, employers in government, corporate and non-profit sectors, health researchers and more.
This fall, we are inviting you to a special event on campus to learn more about this new program and its potential impact on population health. Hosted by Carleton’s president, Roseann O’Reilly Runte, and Dr. Chris Carruthers, member of Carleton’s Board of Governors.
