Host Organization: Earth Sciences
More Information: Please click here for additional details.
Come join volunteers from Carleton University's Department of Earth Sciences and the Ottawa-Gatineau Geoheritage Project at local parks, heritage sites and green spaces to learn how geological processes have shaped the landscape, recorded past environments and provided resources for our use. We will be posting the full list of hosted sites as we get closer to the date, but will include the Champlain Bridge stromatolites in Gatineau, Cardinal Creek Karst in Orleans, Pinhey Sand Dunes in Nepean and Hog’s Back Park in Ottawa, where the Urban Sketchers will join us. We hope to open our Sample Preparation Laboratory again to visitors who are welcome to bring a rock to cut and/or get help to identify.
