Aristophanes’ Frogs was a comedy written when Athens was losing a protracted war and its influence was collapsing, and opportunistic politicians were putting self-advancement before the democracy. What was a comedian to do?

Toph Marshall is Professor of Greek at UBC. He works on Greek and Roman
theatre and stagecraft, and he believes classical theatre is relevant today.
