How can we help students approach data interpretation? In this session, we will explore some common types of data our students may encounter in science courses and consider the methods we can use to help them see results (get it? 😉). We will discuss the importance of scaffolding the learning of data interpretation as students work to develop this important skill. Whether it’s a figure, table or graph, what strategies can we use to give students the best opportunity to become proficient interpreters of scientific data?

About the Faculty of Science Summer Workshop Series:
The Faculty of Science is proud to present a summer workshop series dedicated to topics of interest for instructors teaching in science! In these sessions, facilitators will share ideas to guide students as they encounter challenging tasks in scientific disciplines. We will discuss methods to engage and support students as they work to develop the necessary skills to be successful in their fields. Instructors will leave these sessions with strategies to incorporate these skill-building activities and approaches into their courses, and just in time for the start of the Fall 2021 term! You can find and register for the workshops in this series on the EDC Events webpage. We hope to see you there!
