About this Event

Host Organization: Faculty of Science

How can we help students approach reading and analyzing primary literature? It is a skill we often expect our students to develop, but it is a challenging skill to hone, especially if we don’t explicitly teach our students how to approach the task. In this session, we will consider strategies to help students decode primary literature and discuss ideas to make reading literature a social (and dare we say, enjoyable?) experience for our learners.

About the Faculty of Science Summer Workshop Series:
The Faculty of Science is proud to present a summer workshop series dedicated to topics of interest for instructors teaching in science! In these sessions, facilitators will share ideas to guide students as they encounter challenging tasks in scientific disciplines. We will discuss methods to engage and support students as they work to develop the necessary skills to be successful in their fields. Instructors will leave these sessions with strategies to incorporate these skill-building activities and approaches into their courses, and just in time for the start of the Fall 2021 term! You can find and register for the workshops in this series on the EDC Events webpage. We hope to see you there!
