Come join our volunteers from Carleton University's Department of Earth Sciences and the Ottawa-Gatineau Geoheritage Project at area parks, heritage sites and green spaces to learn how geological processes have shaped the landscape and provided resources for our use. This year, you will find our knowledgeable volunteers at some of our most popular sites across the city including Champlain Lookout in Gatineau Park, the Champlain Bridge stromatolites in Gatineau, The Haycock Iron Mine in Cantley Quebec, Hog’s Back Park in Ottawa, Cardinal Creek Karst in Orleans, and Pinhey Sand Dunes in Nepean. We have two sites to visit on Carleton University Campus again this year: we will be on hand to talk about our new display of local rocks, and will open our Sample Preparation Laboratory to visitors who are welcome to bring a rock to cut.
