About this Event

Host Organization: University of Ottawa School for International Development and Global Studies

The rush to acquire land all across Africa by foreign investors and domestic elites, often with little consultation of the local population, has displaced thousands of farmers depriving them of their livelihoods. Are there alternatives to such "land grabs", that are socially equitable and environmentally sustainable, and that respect the wishes and values of local populations? We have assembled a panel of experts on African agriculture who will debate these issues. Our Moderator is CBC Ottawa host Adrian Harewood.
