About this Event
Host Organization: Economics Alumni Chapter, Economics Department
Economics alumni of all eras are invited to this annual event to meet and network with fellow Economics alumni, faculty, staff and students.
The evening will feature special remarks by alumnus Gregory Ip (BAHons/89 Economics and Journalism), Chief Economics Commentator, Wall Street Journal.
After an auspicious beginning as Editor of The Charlatan, Carleton’s student newspaper, from 1987 to 1988, Greg has had an illustrious career in economics journalism. Notably, from 1996, he worked for eight years at the Wall Street Journal before moving to the Economist, where he became the U.S. Economics editor. In 2015, he returned to the Wall Street Journal as Chief Economics Commentator.
During his career, Greg has reported on a very broad range of economics topics, including financial crises, interest rates, employment, and government policy. He has published three celebrated books, including The Little Book of Economics: How the Economy Works in the Real World and, most recently, Foolproof: Why Safety Can Be Dangerous and How Danger Makes Us Safe.
This is a free event with complimentary reception, cash bar, and giveaways.
Space is limited so please register below in advance.
