About this Event

Host Organization: Economics Alumni Chapter, Economics Department

The seventh annual Economics Alumni Event at Throwback (Carleton's annual fall homecoming celebration). This year, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we are not able to get together in person but are excited to present this event virtually, via the Zoom platform.

Featured guest speaker is Glen Hodgson, one of Canada’s leading economists. Glen has 37 years of experience in global and Canadian macroeconomics, international trade analysis and finance, fiscal policy, and other “big picture” topics.

Glen has worked at the Conference Board of Canada, where he was Senior Vice-President and Chief Economist for twelve years, the International Monetary Fund (IMF) in Washington D.C.; Export Development Canada (EDC), and the Canadian Department of Finance. He is currently a Fellow-in-Residence at the C.D. Howe Institute, Chief Economist with International Financial Consulting Ltd. (IFCL), a member of Canada’s Ecofiscal Commission, and a Fellow with the Public Policy Forum.

Glen has travelled the world and Canada as an economic policy analyst, financial negotiator, public speaker, and advisor to governments, businesses and international organizations.
Glen has co-authored two books and written over 400 reports, briefings and articles, with regular commentary in the Globe and Mail. He has delivered many presentations to audiences of all types and sizes, and done numerous media interviews via print, TV, radio, and social media. He is a graduate of McGill University and the University of Manitoba.

Also joining us for the presentation is Hashmat Khan, Chair of the Economics Department, and there will be an opportunity for an interactive Q&A session between the speakers and participants.

We will also have a draw for some participant prizes so be sure to REGISTER BELOW and join us on October 1 for this special event!
