In 2012 Mr. Barj S. Dhahan initiated the Dhahan Lecture in honour of his parents, Mr. Budh Singh and Mrs. Kashmir Kaur, in association with CICE.
The main objective of the lecture is to encourage knowledge sharing between Indo-Canadian Universities and improve bilateral policy between the two countries. During the Lecture, Dr. Achyuta Samanta will reflect on his personal journey in establishing the Kalinga Institute of Social Services (KISS) in Bhubaneswar, Odisha, as an educational and vocational training entity dedicated to India’s tribal communities. This will be followed by reflections on the Indigenous experience in Canada, with the aim of identifying shared insights.
