Join artists Linda Sormin and Sun K. Kwak for informal walk-throughs of and talks about their installations in progress. Both Kwak and Sormin will be in residence at Carleton University Art Gallery (CUAG) for two weeks beginning in early January, creating large-scale, site-responsive installations.

Rather than waiting until an artist’s work is finished to make it public, we are experimenting with hosting artist talks during installation. This makes public the “behind the scenes” work of artists, bring you into dialogue with the creative process and advances understandings of exhibitions as both product and process.

Born in Bangkok, Sormin moved to Canada with her family at the age of five. Sormin’s work has been exhibited nationally and internationally, most recently at Bluecoat Art Gallery (Liverpool, UK), National Gallery of Indonesia (Jakarta, Indonesia), SaRang Building (Yogyakarta, Indonesia), Denver Art Museum (Denver, USA) and gl Holtegaard (Denmark). She is currently Associate Professor of Ceramics at the New York State College at Alfred University.

Sun K. Kwak currently lives and works in New York City. She has exhibited internationally including at the Brooklyn Museum, Queens Museum of Art, Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum, Haus der Kulturen der Welt (Berlin), National Taiwan Museum of Fine Arts, (Taichung) and the Korean National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art (Seoul).

Admission is free and everyone is welcome! CUAG is an accessible space, with barrier-free washrooms and elevator.

Discount parking passes ($4.00 flat rate) will be available for sale at the tunnel entrance from 6:40 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. Please see the visiting page for directions.
