CU75 POPS: Water is a student-led “team” challenge designed to reward innovation and creativity and get you thinking about pathways to effect change in your community. That’s why it’s called POPS— Policy Options and Problem Solving.

The Challenge: Two beautiful rivers flow through Ottawa— the Rideau and the Ottawa—but when it rains, the rivers are filled with polluted water draining out of some of the older areas of the city. As a result, beaches are closed and aquatic life is affected.

The Question: How do we protect our local rivers from polluted storm water?

The top undergraduate and graduate teams have been selected by judges from Environment and Climate Change Canada, the City of Ottawa and Carleton Faculty members. Now they present to these judges to win one of the 3 prizes awarded in each stream. First prize is $7500 to the winning team, $2500 to the second place team and $1500 to the third place team.

Event Schedule:

10:00 – 11:45 Undergraduate team presentations
11:45 – 12:45 Lunch for judges and teams
12:45 – 14:45 Graduate team presentations

This event is by invitation only.
