About this Event
Host Organization: Communications Chapter, Carleton University Alumni Association
Join the Comms Chapter on Tuesday, November 20, 2018, for a unique, intimate networking and learning opportunity focusing on the topic of Women in Communications.
The communications industry is so fast-paced that we rarely stop to discuss the challenges we face as women on a daily basis. According to a 2017 Labour Force Survey, women make up 26.7% of Canada's information and communications technology industry overall and occupy less than 30% of managerial roles. Representation, equal pay and mentorship are just a few of the featured topics at this small group event hosted by the CarletonAlumni Chapter.
The evening will provide a chance to reconnect with classmates and professors and learn from the experience of others. Share the challenges you face, ask questions and gain insight from women who have been where you are.
Discussion will be moderated by Laura Allardyce (BAHons/10 Mass Comm):
Laura is a communications generalist. She's moved around throughout her career and honed her skills in a variety of roles and environments including a large PR firm, national associations and non-profits, and both federal and territorial government departments. Most recently she put her general know-how to the test and built the communications engine for a data-driven start-up. Today she continues to lend her talents to scrappy upstarts, social enterprises and friends.
Space is limited for this small group event. Please register above.
