About this Event
Host Organization: NPSIA
Come join one of our Senior fellows as he presents a brief overview of the conflict with ISIS in Iraq, and then turns to describe the nature and extent of explosive hazards (EH) contamination – particularly from improvised explosive devices (IEDs) – and the work underway to address the contamination problem. He will also touch on the challenges Iraq’s EH contamination poses to stabilization in the country and on possible implications both for other countries in the region and for the international mine action community.
After twenty years in international development working with NGOs, the North-South Institute and as an independent consultant, in 2000 Ted Paterson wandered into mine action. A development economist with a background in strategic planning, programme planning and management, monitoring and evaluation, policy research, capacity development and aid effectiveness, Ted focuses on the links between mine action and development.
