Zita Cobb, C.M., BComm/80, LLD/13, President, Shorefast Foundation.

‘Community, Collaboration, and Change: The Story of Shorefast Foundation and Renewal on Fogo Island, Newfoundland.’

Zita Cobb grew up on Fogo Island and went on to a career as a senior finance professional in the high-technology industry. She was the Chief Financial Officer of JDS Fitel and Senior Vice-President of strategy for fiber optics manufacturer JDS Uniphase. In 2001, Cobb retired from her business career to focus her energies on helping her home community secure a resilient economic and cultural future. Along with two of her brothers, Anthony and Alan, she founded the Shorefast Foundation, moved home to Fogo Island, and is now dedicated full-time to Shorefast’s charitable programs and social businesses on Fogo Island.

The A.D. Dunton Alumni Award of Distinction will also be presented to Ms. Cobb at this event.
