Prof. Marc Raboy of McGill University will present his recently published book "Marconi: The Man who Networked the World", (OUP, 2016).
Guglielmo Marconi's invention was a revolution in modern communication technology and the introduction of the radio in every household had a great cultural impact. Marconi, who came from an Italian family, established stations and transmitters from Newfoundland to every corner of the globe. He was the first truly global figure in modern communications.
Marc Raboy is the Beaverbrook Chair in Ethics, Media and Communications and a professor of Communication Studies at McGill University; the book is an enthralling and comprehensive biography and was shortlisted for the Governor General’s Literary Awards 2016.
The event aims at celebrating the Italian contribution to Canada 150th anniversary and is co-organized with the Società Dante Alighieri Ottawa, the Embassy of Italy, the Istituto Italiano di Cultura Toronto.
The presentation will be in English, followed by book signing and light refreshments.
