This annual event, run on a Saturday in late September or early October, aims to bring people outdoors to visit some exceptional Geosites in the Ottawa region and learn how geological processes have shaped, and continue to shape our local landscape. Expert volunteers host selected sites from 10:00am to 3:00pm to help visitors learn about geological features that can be seen at the site.
This year there will be 3 hosted sites: Pinhey Sand Dunes, just south of the Nepean Sportsplex, the Cardinal Creek Karst in Orleans, and the newly renovated Westboro Beach site which now boasts an exposure of stromatolites and interpretive panels. The OGGP's Al Donaldson will host this new stromatolite site.
