Children, teens, families and teachers interested in Earth Sciences, and especially rocks are invited to join us for a free public interactive event at Desmarais Hall, University of Ottawa on Tuesday May 13, 6:00pm to 9:00pm. There will be something for everyone!
Explore your connection with rivers, lakes and ocean waters in Canada through the Augmented Reality enhanced Ocean, Freshwater and Us giant floor map.
Learn about the importance and challenges of mining in Canada through new gamified activities.
Learn how to be a Mineral Detective with the experts from the Mineralogical Association of Canada. If you would like to bring in a rock to be identified please register at beth.mclartyhalfkenny@carleton.ca for a chance to take home a free mineral identification kit.
And finally, come listen to at talk by our own esteemed Professor Emeritus Dr. Claudia Schröder-Adams entitled "Arctic Ecosystem Changes: Contrasting the Recent with the Fossil Record". The talk will take place at 8pm in room 1160 Desmarais Hall.
This event is part of the annual joint meeting of the Geological Association of Canada, the Mineralogical Association of Canada and the Canadian National Committee of the International Association of Hydrogeologists.
