The Centre for European Studies Jean Monnet Network on Transatlantic Trade Politics is pleased to host the research workshop, Transatlantic Trade in Global Context.

This one-day international workshop, organized by Carleton University, will bring together scholars and policy makers to assess how the transatlantic partners (the US, EU, and Canada) are addressing and being impacted by recent developments in global trade and economics. Speakers will explore similarities and differences between the approaches implemented by the EU, the US and Canada towards China, Eastern Europe and other parties.

Key topics are the following:

(1) how the EU, the US and Canada are dealing with challenges that the Chinese model of economic development has brought to the global economy;

(2) trade and economic relations more broadly between of the transatlantic partners and Eastern European countries (e.g., Ukraine, Moldova, Georgia, Armenia), also as impacted by the Russian war in Ukraine;

(3) implications of sanctions regimes and of the war in Ukraine on trade with other actors (Africa, Latin America and/or Asian countries) or on other sectors.
