The Jean Monnet Centre of Excellence is very pleased to present a new lecture in the EU Policy Talk series, \"What does EU citizenship and identity mean outside of the EU?\" with Agnieszka Weinar, Carleton University.
EU citizenship assures equal rights to all EU nationals in all Member States. Yet, the Union suffers from two issues: territorial limitation and limited symbolic appeal. Now, the EU is seeking to address important questions of the rights and obligations of EU citizenship after Brexit. Professor Weinar will discuss EU citizenship and identity outside of Europe, with a focus on Canada, and propose scenarios for the future of engagement of the EU with Europeans outside Europe.
Dr. Weinar is Team Leader of the EU-Canada Policy Dialogues in Ottawa and Adjunct Professor at the Institute of European, Russian and Eurasian Studies (EURUS) at Carleton University.
This event is free and open to the public. The number of attendees is limited and registration is required to attend. Please complete the registration information at the link provided.
