The Carleton University Office for Chemistry Outreach (CUOCO) is hosting its eighth annual Chemistry Magic Show and Activity Centre on Saturday, February 28, 2015. The one-hour magic show is filled with amazing glow in the dark substances, fantastic colour changes, spontaneous combustion reactions and much more. In addition, families can get their hands dirty at the Activity Centre while making real ice cream with liquid nitrogen, slime and miniature Olympic medals. They can also learn about pleasant and not so pleasant smells and the chemistry of wine and chocolate.
The show is free but we will collecting donations of cash and non-perishable food for the Ottawa Food Bank, as well as donations to fund our activities.
The Chemistry Magic Shows are at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. in River Building Room 2200. Because seating is limited, tickets will be given out on a first-come-first-served basis outside the Activity Room (located in Steacie Building Room 204). If the theatre fills up, guests will still be able to watch the show on video screens in nearby classrooms.
The Hands-On Activity Room is in The Superlab (Steacie Building Room 204) and is open from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. (but closed during the magic shows).
