Join fellow professionals for two days (Saturdays) of thought-provoking, round-table dialogues on urban design theories, process and products. Through case studies from local and international projects, participants will explore practical paradigms for planning and developing urban and suburban developments.

Participants will hear from different experts in the field of urbanism as they discuss topics such as urban design in context, theories and paradigms in developing new communities and urban intensification. Focusing on the city, there will also be discussions on the planning history of Ottawa, Ottawa’s Greenfield development, and Ottawa’s recent experiences in urban intensification. The course will culminate with a Design Charrette on an intensification and/or greenfield site in Ottawa.

This course is designed for architects, landscape architects, engineers and any other professionals interested in urbanism and especially in the city of Ottawa.
