Drawing on the remarkable economic performance of Poland since 1989, Dr. Marcin Piatkowski analyzes its economic history to provide a new perspective on the future of Poland’s economy. He argues that Poland has just had the best 20 years in its entire history, more than doubling its GDP and becoming the European growth champion. Poland’s successful growth model has become a benchmark for other countries in Europe and beyond. Dr. Marcin Piatkowski is a Senior Economist at the World Bank office in Warsaw. He is also Assistant Professor of Economics at Kozminski University. Previously, he was Chief Economist of PKO BP, the largest bank in Poland, Economist and Advisor to the Executive Director at the IMF, and Advisor to Poland’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance. He holds a Ph.D. degree in Economics from Kozminski University and M.A. in Finance and Banking from the Warsaw School of Economics.
