In May 2017, the Ontario government suddenly, without any public consultation, announced Ottawa was getting a brand new, very expensive, jail that could hold 25 per cent more prisoners. We want public discussion about better ways to spend that money to protect the public and keep people like the poor, mentally ill, and those with substance issues out of jail. The Criminalization and Punishment Education Project, started by students and faculty, needs volunteers. We could use your help. Want to find out more? Join us Thursday, September 28 at 6:00 p.m. Refreshments will be provided.
