The next in the CHAIM Centre series will feature Dr. Smita Pakhalé, MD, FRCPC, MSc (Epi & Biostat)– Presenting “The Bridge Engagement Centre: Meaningful ‘Patient Engagement’ to tackle tobacco and opioid crises”

Dr. Pakhalé is a clinician-scientist at the Ottawa Hospital and Ottawa Hospital Research Institute (adult pulmonologist) leading community-based research projects at the Bridge Engagement Centre (the Bridge) on 216 Murray St., in downtown Ottawa, Canada, near Ottawa’s largest homeless shelter. The target population at the Bridge is the most at-risk population (homeless or at-risk for homelessness, low-income). They work in a true partnership with this target population. Dr. Pakhalé will be presenting on her ‘Patient Engagement’ model operationalized at the Bridge.

The CHAIM Brown Bag Series highlights the health research that is being done at Carleton University. Health researchers from many departments across campus will be featured.
