Host Organization: Confucius Institute

In partnership with Shandong Academy of Chinese Traditional Medicine, the National Capital Confucius Institute at Carleton University is set to host the workshop to introduce the traditional Chinese medication. Light lunch will be provided. Please note that this is a 2-hour workshop but if you can only attend for one hour, you are still more than welcome to attend!

Topics will include:

Research on natural medicine
traditional Chinese medication on pain control and sleeping problems
preventive health care, health science, health food.
Pulse study and diagnosis
Guest speakers from China will include:

Dr. Zongyuan YU, Medical Doctor on Traditional Chinese Medicine, specialized in quality control and evaluation of Chinese medicinal herbal drug for 34 years, Vice President of Shandong Academy of Chinese Medicine, MA Supervisor at the Shandon University of Traditional Chinese Medicine.
Dr. Huibin LIN, Ph. D. supervisor. The Deputy Director General of Shandong Academy of Agricultural Sciences, the Deputy Director of Chinese Herbal Medicine Industry association of Shandong Province, the Director of the Shandong Institute of Botany, the member of the Chinese Academy of Botany medicinal plant and plant medicine committee.
Dr. Fengju Niu, received the bachelor‘s degree of traditional Chinese medicine and a master‘s degree of Acupuncture and moxibustion therapy, Dr. Niu is Director of Rehabilitation and Health Center of the Shandong Academy of traditional Chinese Medicine, engaging in clinical and scientific research in clinical acupuncture diagnosis and treatment, specialized in Pain Control and treatment with the Chinese traditional medication; Dr. Niu’s key area of research is neurologic diseases and sub-health insomnia, and related sleeping problems.
Ms. Ying LI, the Director of the Office of Industry and the Vice-Chair of three specialized committees at the Shandong Association of Research and Industrialization of Traditional Chinese Medicine. Ms. Li oversees the Shandong provincial scientific research management and clinical scientific research of traditional Chinese medicine. Her academic research is in the prevention and treatment of diabetes and its complications with the Chinese traditional medicine.
Dr. Xilin ZHANG, Male, Researcher. He graduated from Beijing University of Chinese Medicine in 1995 with a bachelor’s degree in medicine. Since 2008, he has been the Deputy Director of the institute of Pulse Research in Shandong Academy of Chinese Medicine. In 2012, he studied with Jin Wei, the leading Pulse Science expert, the founder of Jin’s Pulse Study, and received the master’s degree. His key research area is clinical application of Jin’s pulse and objective study of pulse diagnosis and treatment in spleen stomach diseases and cardio-cerebrovascular diseases.
