Presentation by Daniel Stolarski

Abstract:

Physicists have developed an understanding of the of the laws and matter that make up stars, planets and people. However, this stuff that we see around us only makes up 5% of the energy of the universe. The other 95% is dark: made up of dark matter, and the even more mysterious dark energy.

In this talk, Prof. Stolarski will describe what we know and do not know about dark matter and dark energy. He will also describe some of the theoretical and experimental techniques currently being developed by scientists to further our understanding of these mysterious phenomena.
