Inspiring Philanthropy to do Better
The percentage of Canadians who give to charity has been declining for years, and many relatively wealthy individuals do not donate. Philanthropy in the US seems to be in a better state, and Americans give at higher rates than Canadians. The differences are not due solely to differences in tax incentives.
What can we learn from the way that philanthropy works in the States?
How could Canadians do better, and what would that take?
A discussion with:
• Mike Pedersen, Chair, Business Development Bank of Canada; former President and CEO, TD Bank, US; driving force behind The Personal Philanthropy Project at Imagine Canada
• Patrick Rooney, Executive Associate Dean; Professor of Economics and Philanthropic Studies; Lilly Family School of Philanthropy, IUPUI, Indianapolis, USA.
Moderated by Dr. Alastair Summerlee, Former President, Carleton University & University of Guelph

Pay and Display parking is available in the Richcraft Hall Parking Garage and P9 Parking Garage
